A day in the life of a Georgia Military College Prep School student would begin at 7:45 am with morning formation in which attendance is checked, the U.S. and State Flag are raised, and uniform inspection is conducted. The students then proceed to their respective classes that may include Spanish, French, Keyboarding, Accelerated Reader, Team Sports, Physical Fitness Training, Leadership Education Training, Current Events, Ethics, Yearbook, Journalism, Language Arts, Math, Science or Social Studies. Students may either eat lunch in the dining hall or the canteen snack bar. Students practice their marching skills during drill period at least twice weekly. The students follow a traditional 7 period schedule with the final class ending at 3:15. Academic tutoring is available Mondays through Thursdays. After school extracurricular activities include rifle team, color guard, drill team, band, dance line, chorus, one act play, debate, literary competition, cheerleading, football, softball, basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, tennis, track, tumbling, soccer, Jr. Beta Club, National Honor Society, and a host of other clubs and activities.
It is our belief that student involvement in extracurricular activities helps teach vital character traits such as team building, cooperation, tolerance, patience, sportsmanship and critical thinking skills. Such activities also help instill a sense of school pride, spirit and community. Research indicates that those students involved in such activities tend to develop into better socially adjusted and academically prepared adults. Georgia Military College will continue to strive to provide an environment conducive to learning both in and out of the classroom.
